new life old pains and fresh hopes
Sickboy, Sep 29, 2005
were it not for this pain
i think i'd die right here
it keeps me running darling
it makes me continue on
the pain of loving you
coupled with the fear of losing all
our first barely formed
unaware the misery that awaits
yet i am hopeful in this
that one day our unity
one half bitter cold seeping to the bone
one half scorching heat burning the flesh
that child will climb up and over the suffering
to find a place of peace
perhaps meet someone or cure something
be brilliant like you or strong like me
gentle and quiet the way that you are
calm and patient the way i long to be
making love countless times
yet that time is all that counts
so to the girl who knows my darker heart
i'll be home once i am done
bending the rules for the means to the ends
breaking the laws for the end of the need for means
to my hopes and dreams rocking in dreamless slumber
you are made from love made
i promise you now child of mine
that is all you'll ever get
when your father finally gets home
he'll hold you close and sing for you
sing softly so that he might forget
pain he helped shape that he now must regret
molded with his hands blood and sweat
then little one he'll lay you down
safe and sound
in your hand-me-down basinet...
