Going Home
Rest In Peace ~ Jay Scott Powell
Cookie Arceo, Jul 12, 2007

Where were you when the Twins fell?

I was lost between the worlds of reality and dreams.

In limbo while CNN blares it's siren call;

"The World Trade Center has collapsed!"

He was sitting there on the sofa eating his

Chicken pot pies, watching in horror as

People jump to their own certain doom

It has been 6 years and many, many tears

Since the fall of 2001.

I know my baby has been smiling at me

From that place he went to when he

Took his final breath while hovering

A few feet from the floor.

He made love to me there

And he died there,

And since then I have cried there

And here in the place where the worlds

Of reality and dreams cross paths

That maelstrom of racism that soon followed the attacks

Will be the scourge of the nation for years to come

Who knew it was going to be a crime

To be brown, to be chocolate, to be muslim?

As the Twins fell, a piece of the
American Soul fell with it.
